BCBS MI questions
I don't have any answers or advice. I just wanted to tell you that after reading your first post, I think you're an awesome guy! I really like your writing style. Witty and sarcastic - maybe we're related.
Sorry to hear about all the troubles you've had. I hope you find the answers you're looking for...

Heh, thanks.
Most people think im a walking [ok, ok, hobbling] plague due to my sarcasm, but its just me.
I still got the lady here at work checkin in to BCBS's list of demands and now that they've limited the number of places to get this surgery done to a big bad whopping SIX!!@! places.. my choices for potential surgeons just kinda went down.
I hate BCBS. I don't care what anyone says, they are trying to make it impossible to get this surgery and thats just wrong. that shows they think this isn't a medical condition.
I'm not a fan.
In other news.. if i was able to get this done i would most likely want an RNY procedure simply because the idea of losing less slower doesn't appeal to me, but i'd be glad to hear other people's reasons for the band over RNY.

oh wow am i having a bad day.
just got the list of demands from BlueCross. Aparantly you have to have a minimum of 3 consecutive years of medically supervised dieting now.
Feel free to prove me wrong and make me not so depressed =[
looks like two more years of living in hell and by then i'm sure they will change it again to be 10 years.
awwwww, here's a big Hawaiian {{{{{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}}}}}} for you!
I too have BCBS but the Federal plan. I have been trying to decide between the lap band and RNY. Today I am leaning towards the band. I may be 100 friggin' years old before that happens because the doc's office is too busy to deal with me.
So far I haven't heard that my BCBS requires medically supervised dieting for any length of time, but you know what? These surgeries are so expensive to insurance companies and as a nation more and more of us are becoming obese. It won't be but a few years before this surgery will only be covered if a person is on their deathbed. Then it will be too dangerous to operate so they won't have to cover any at all. Mark my words.
Hang in there. It'll get better.

well my g/f works at my doctors office and she said she called BCBS yesterday and the centers of excellence are only for blue care network.. and they told her over the phone that you only need a year of dieting. They did refuse to fax that list however, and she called three people who all refused. I wonder why..
On the sadder note i did find out that i'm most likely diabetic. Slight chance im not but my blood sugar was like 115 or something and she said tis suposed to be between 60-90 or something.
ugh.
deathbed.. i hear ya.
