BCBS Texas question

My employer is getting new insurance this fall.  I'm excited because it appears that the new insurance will cover surgery when it is "medically necessary as determined by BCBS of Texas."  I'm fairly certain I will have no problem, since my BMI is in the 50s and I have two comorbidities.  But has anyone here experienced getting approved by them?  What hoops do you need to jump through?  Thanks.

I have BCBS HMO Blue Texas, and BCBS Fep (Standard PPO) the hmo plan does not cover WLS the Federal Plan does cover it. The federal plan is my DH plan and it is my secondary.  This is just an example of different BCBS palns. Some cover WLS others do not, it depends on what your employer buys with the plan.  Hope this helps.  You will get good info on this board.  Good luck!
