does kaiser cover lap band?

anyone know?  my understanding was that they DO cover lap band, but i just saw a post from a woman who said that they only cover it if you already had your name on a list last year.  any input? thanks! best, sarah

Kasier in So. Cal does not cover lapband.  I   think they do up north.

Sarah, Richmond does lap band, but I know Fremont doesn't. Don't know about SSF. However, having attended Orientation in Richmond yesterday, the surgeon said they have only done about  70 lap bands and that it doesn't work for a lot of people because you still feel hungry after eating. If that's a problem for you, he doesn't recommend that surgery. He also said they have more complications than with the RNY. In some cases, if a person only wants the lap band and the surgeons don't agree, then you'll be denied surgery.
