chances for appeal.... puh-lease HELP!

I have BCBS of NJ. I was denied for my lapband. My mother knew an advocate who worked with us to get more information to send in to the ins. company. It's been about 2 or 3 weeks since it has been sent in, and I'm so nervous; I didn't think it would take this long. My main question is: I got denied because my BMI wasn't over 35 for 5 or more years. The thing is though, I was only 14/15 5 years ago, so can that rule really be set in stone? I mean, I am on the cusp of having hypertension as well as bad joint pain and things like that. Will they bend that rule at all?? Finally, what should I do if I get denied again?? Just relax.  Don't get upset.   NJ is a great state to work with if you are denied.  let the proces happen right now.  We're all pulling for you.
