Unexpected change in Ins Policy Change leaves WLS 'Excluded'

I am hoping not to get the same short curt answer that others have posted in regards to this type of situation but I figured maybe someone somewhere would be able to shine a light of hope. I finally decided to take the option of WLS after gaining back 125 lbs of the 100 lbs  I lost on Atkins diet once I went off of the diet and lost my boyfriend overseas.  I have numbness in my legs when sitting for long periods of time,  back pain, and horrible rashes from stretched skin against skin as well as painful urination due to this.  I went to my PCP *****commended me to a Surgeon I called my Ins Co (UHC PPO) and was told it was a covered benefit with the necessary documentation. I set up my appointment with the surgeon for the 29th. Then last week we were told our company  was 'unmerging' with the company that we were one with and our insurance would be changing on the 19th (yes, they gave us 5 business days to get our affairs in order).  Now we are only 300 employees instead of a larger corporation I have finally got a telephone number to call regarding benefits and they tell me any obesity diagnosis' or WLS is not in my new plan .  I spoke to my HR department and she is 'looking into it', but HR is paid by the CEO who is unfondly called a '300 lb gorilla' by the stockholders.  (he is quite skinny it is just a metaphor) so I doubt she will help much. I am a single woman who has been emancipated from her family for years.  I own my home and take care of everything myself.  I can not afford to get a new job (there is not much in the area I live in that pays enough for me to sustain my home) and I am also in the process of cleaning up the credit my ex destroyed (he's now in jail because of it) . I am not saying all this for pity I am actually quite a happy individual now except for the weight/health issue- I am just stressing that there is no there is no way I could possibly pay for the surgery myself yet I can not live with the discomfort much longer.   Thanks to anyone who can find it upon themselves to give me ideas

Keep working with your Benefits Coordinator. Maybe get your surgeon involved and the local Bariatric community. I know it sounds odd, but my surgeon and his associates have been instrumental here in Texas in educating and fighting for WLS- showing benefits of surgery vs. cost of obesity (actually cheaper in the long run). I really hope there is a way to make it happen for you!
