Insurance for Plastic Surgery

Hey there~ My questions are more related to the plastic/reconstructive area of ins coverage... My BCBS Community Blue of Mi. kicks in June 1st, and according to the 2 reps I spoke to, abdiomnioplasty (including the muscle work) is a covered benefit. No criteria to be met, no pre certs or pre approvals needed. This sounds all too good to be true, which is why I called back a second time. I've spoken to a couple of plastic surgeons offices who tell me the abdiomnio is NEVER covered, only the panniculectomy, and if I want the muscle work done I'll have to pay out of pocket for it... I do have an appointment with the sergeon from Barix, and was assured that it would all most likely be covered. I like them as they do nothing but WLS-related procedures there and know exactally how to bill for it all. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience in this area... I'm 7 years out, lost 170-ish and am finally ready to take this step. I REALLY don't want to get my hopes up if it's not a real possibility, you know? Thanks!!

There is no way I believe this.  I will call the ins co back with a cpt code and have someone look it up.

My mother had her breast lift done and a tummy tuck. Insurance covered it all. I had a breast lift, circumferential tummy tuck, and inner thigh lift that was covered by my insurance. My mom had Empire BC/BS and I had Healthfirst.
