Just thought I'd put in my two cents!
I had RNY almost a year ago. I went through Triwest (we live in Colorado Springs, CO, at Peterson Air Force Base).
At any rate, they required that BMI should be 40 or above with at least 1 co-morbidity. Mine was high blood pressure. As far as approval, my PCM actually recommended the surgery! (lol!) I had to go to a 4 week nutritional class geared towards bypass patients, do a psych eval, and attend at least 3 support group meetings. After all of that was said and done, I was scheduled for surgery. There was a waiting list, but it was relatively short!
Now then, does anyone know if tricare.triwest will cover a circumferential body lift? Or just a lower body lift? I have visited the tricare site and am getting nowhere!!
