BCBSNC denied!!!!
I've received my letter last week---denied!!!! The reason- because my BMI fell below 40. The dr's charts I sent in did have a lower weight but it was noted on several of them I was on such and such diet program and had lost such and such lbs. So now I am going back to get my diet info from WW and Jenny Craig and send that in which all show prior to Dr.'s visit a much higher weight and a BMI of 40+. If anyone can think of anything else I can put in my letter before I send it out that would be greatly appreciated. My battle begins and it will continue until........ APPROVED!!!!!
I have FEP BCBS , I have all of medical records for the past 6 years my BMI was over 40 the entire time except in 2003 by BMI was 36 in June and 39 in November. I have documentation that it was 47 in 2002. I was going through a divorce and basically starved myself from the stress. Has anyone had any experience with this?
I have Horizon BCBS of NJ PPO and have been denied for their 5 year requirment. Three years ago my BMI fell under 35 then went back up as I failed to maintain another diet. Of course they fact that my BMI is now 43, I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, severe GERD, a hiatal hernia, as well as back and joint problems did not matter to them and they denied me. I went back to my GYN and got my list of weights since 1995 showing that my BMI (except for that year) was always greater than 35, submitted an appeal, and they still denied me! My last chance is now a direct appeal with the Human Resourses Dept. where I work. I submitted the appeal yesterday and I now am praying that something good happens. If not I cry a whole lot, try more dieting, and have to wait two more years. Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission. -Eleanor Roosevelt-
