Written Policy for WLS - anyone have problems?

My DH and I have two ins - one through his job and one through mine. I was trying to get copies in writing of what is required by the ins co for approval to get the WLS. HealthPartners told me their policy on WLS was on their website, which I found easily and printed.  BCBS told me I couldn't get anything in writing from them, however, my dr has access to it and that my dr would know what I needed to do. I plan on doing this at my appointment in September. Then the rep spent 20-30 mins reading the entire policy to be over the phone while I took notes. I think it's awfully strange that I can't get this in writing from my ins co.  Anyone have this problem?

Check the BCBS website.  I found mine with Empire BCBS under "provider services" and then looked up under medical policies.  It was listed as Surgery for Clinical Obesity.  It might be there or under the section that your doctor would select to get information from the site.
