As of September 1 - Aetan now requires 5 yrs medical history be submitted with your PCP

I just need to cry and pout for a  minuite... Aenta as of 9/1 added that they need 5 years of PCP history when submitting to insurance. One would think it's not a big deal.. HOWEVER... Im one of those women who just started going to a PCP THIS year.. I didn't have a primary.. I only went to the emergency room for colds and crap like that... I just didn't get sick.. Im a fairly healthy human being with 100+ pounds of extra fluff... My coordinator said to have my OBGYN write a letter.  I didn't go to an ob for 2 of the last 5 years, I was too embarassed due to a divorce to go back and I was in real estate for a year with out benefits...  Hopefully Aetna will take what information we do have..

I was worried about this also, my surgeon said you can go back futher than the 5 years, maybe that would be a possibiliy?  Say if you only have 3 years out of the last 5 then maybe on the 6th or 7th year out you went to the doctor and could get the medical records from them.  Just a thought you might want to check into.  I have also heard that you can submit pictures if they have dates on them, but I really have no idea if anyone has gotten approved with pictures before.

Great! I am in the same boat. I do have 5 year history with an urgent care facility that was submitted with my case . I hope they will accept that. I only had insurance for the past 3 years but had not found a PCP until 3 months ago.

I also have Aetna.  I don't go to the Dr unless I'm knocking on death's door !   Last week, I sent record releases to every medical provider I have seen in the past 5 years (hospitals, Urgent Care, GYN) in the hopes that they recorded my weight somewhere in their records.  It's my understanding that it doesn't have to be from your "PCP".  Any medical provider will do.
