Did Medicare pay if u were over 65?

Those of you who were on medicare,  and over 65, did they pay for your surgery?  If so, which surgery (lap band in particular) and what were you required to do to prove medical necessity? Sharon in Nevada

I am not sure if this will help, but my mother who is over 65 has medicare and was told by them that they DO cover this, although she had a hard time finding a doctor that would except it.  I am not sure what they needed for requirements though.
