BCBSIL -- UGH!!

Hi, my Dr supervised diet is affiliated with the surgeons office. So I know they know what amount of calories the insurance companies approve. It was a 1200 calorie diet. I can't do Jenny Craig they would not even look at me as a prospective sign up. They don't take anyone who is on a Gluten Free diet. I know Optifast and Medifast are very low calorie diets, as I was on Optifast years ago. Ended up with having my gallbladder removed thanks to that.  Anyway, I got really mad, called back requested a supervisor. I figured I followed all their requirements and yet was getting a total run around. Saying this or that is missing, when furnished with the missing components, then need something else. I know they have it all. They told me they were going to hold the file, so I told the supervisor I was tired of all this. He said he was sending it up to the Medical Review department. He told me it would probably take 5 days to get an answer, and to try calling next week. I will try calling Friday if I can wait that long lol. He told me he had the piece they said was the only thing missing. So I guess I will find out soon. I hope they approve, if not at least I can see why the deny and appeal it. Its not sitting on someones desk gathering dust.

Renee - I don't know what to say...I don't understand how some people get through the process virtually unscathed, and others have problems when they follow the same program. I think the reviewers are just following their strict "templates" when reviewing medical information, and are just looking at pieces of the information and not the whole picture. I really hate having to go through this process and have felt like giving up many times, and I'm not even at the appeal stage yet.. It feels like rejection, although I know it's not as personal as that. It sounds like you've had more run around from them than I have so far.  Just don't give up !! You deserve this as much as anyone else, and they will see that eventually. I just keep praying that if we have followed the 6 month program and met their policy requirements that they will see that. I am hopefully resubmitting additional information tomorrow...so I hope and pray this works!! Let me know if you get anywhere with them.
