People are successful with insurance companies all the time.  What seems to be your particular concern regarding UnitedHealthcare?

Stacy, I have UHC and am having a "go-around" with them currently. I was denied the first time stating blah,blah,blah...basically, didn't meet "THE" requirements. I did! Anyhow, I went back to my PCP and surgeon and did some more testing that wasn't initially ordered...gathered some more ammo! Diagnosed with high BP, high cholesterol and moderate sleep apnea...bad for me but good for my case. I APPEALED submitting all info again with additional new "ammo" and of course my written letter. I sent it certified mail AND faxed it! Reply came back thru mail stating their decision remained the same. Can you say FURIOUS! What was especially infuriating was the fact that I had just called UHC the day previous to receiving my 2nd denial for them to tell me that there was NO result yet from my appeal. The letter gave SPECIFIC co-morbidities...which I met with my sleep apnea and that info was in "their" hands! I wrote a letter stating that they must have "overlooked" my sleep study documentation. I haven't heard anything back yet. My husband went to his HR department and spoke with one of the ladies and they looked at the Insurance Policy and could not even find the info UHC was referring to. I sent the 2nd "denial" with my husband along with my sleep study documentation...the HR woman requested it in order to contact her contact person @ UHC.  ARG! Sorry, information overload. I'll keep the board updated on my status. I may be contacting Gary soon for legal console. I hope your path is less complicated than mine!

Ok I don't have your insurance company, but I can tell you what BCBSIL said about the co morbidities. That was if like say, it was sleep apnea for example. The sleep apnea would have to be in the severe area, not mild to moderate. Also it would have to be so bad it was not helped with the CPAP machine. Now I am not saying I agree with these rules by any means, just repeating what was told to me by a rep of theirs. That is how they would determine the sleep apnea is a co morbidity. So like high blood pressure would have to be so bad, medication was no longer, or not helping at all. I was glad in a way my BMI is over 40 so I did not have to have any of those. Good Luck!!
