federal BC/BS and lapband Fills

I know that federal BC/BS will pay for the lap band but I heard through the grapevine that they do not pay for fills because it is considered "experiemental."  Is this true?  If so doesn't that defeat the purpose of even having a lapband? 

I have the same insurance. I believe that I read they cover 2 fills. .....................................Pat

I just got a letter from my insurance company today.  BCBS-Georgia HMO.  And they state that they will only pay for one fill every 3 months and I would have to get referrall from my primary care phyiscan before each fill.
