Please answer only if you have FEDERAL......state Blue Cross is different and wont apply to me. Would like to hear how long the approval process for RNY took  and has anyone with a BMI between 35 and 39 been approved? The brochure says it is covered if you have a BMI between 35-39 with co morbidities. Thanks for your help. I have a lap band( Mexico self pay 2004) and want a revision to RNY.

First, I will tell you my experience with BCBS FEP out of my bariatric office in Knoxville, TN. In no way do I guarantee it will be the way it goes for you, this is only my experience! BCBS FEP does not allow us to fax it, we must mail our request for surgery to them. We get an answer by mail in about 25 days, you will get a copy mailed to you too. Yes, we get "lightweights" approved all the time. They are very easy to work with. Good luck! Bonnie
