Question???
And exclusion is almost impossible to fight. The employer (most of the time) contracted with the insurer to exclude WLS in order to get cheaper rates. The case than must be made to the employer to 1) make an exception for you and pay directly from the company funds (ha!) or 2) change the contract to include WLS at the next renewal date (I am doing this now with my employer).
However, some employer's hands are tied. If they have less than 100 employees or live in an area with lousy insurance protection laws, the insurance companies may not even offer WLS at all, even at a higher rate.

I'm also dealing with that right now. Disappointingly, we just got our open enrollment packages yesterday, and the exclusion for all things OBESITY still remains intact :(. I'm actually looking for a private health insurance policy rather than re-enrollment with BCBS of FLa. They SUCK!

I hate to burst your bubble, but with private insurance:
1) If you are obese the rates will be astronomical.
2) NO private insurance policy covers WLS or obesity, period, end of story.

I have heard that Starbuck's and Home Depot offer health insurance even to part-time employees, and that both plans cover WLS. I'm sure there are other companies who do this as well. If all else fails, I suggest getting a part-time job if possible.
