I agree--$5 per page is insane!! I resently got my medical records from an HMO I used to have, and they outsource all their record copying, and it was still only 50 cents a page.

You have the right to see your own medical records and to obtain copies of those records. I would maybe talk to the doctor about it directly and not to the chick at the desk. Or see if you can have your records sent directly to your surgeon's office (then get copies from the surgeon's office).
