HIP (Healthy Indiana Plan)

Hello,
I have a question about the Healthy Indiana Plan.
I am currently a member of BlueCross Blue Shield thru the HIP plan.  It is an insurance for low income families in Indiana.  WLS is considered an exemption thur this policy.  I was wondering if anyone has ever got WLS when it was an exemption on their insurance.  I called and they told me there was no way to get it covered...
My story is complicated.  I had a BAND in 2000 and had lost 150lbs... now after 2 babies and more stress than I could handle I have gained back almost all the weight.  I am 5ft and over 300lbs.  I have a BMI of 60, severe obstructive sleep apnea, joint, back, and knee pain, swelling in my feet and legs, etc...  So far I haven't been diagnosed with diabetes or high BP but I am sure that it's only a matter of time.  With all of these problems you would think it would be cheaper on them to pay for the surgery....  I don't know what to do next!

An exclusion is nearly impossible to fight, especially if it's from the state...you'd probably have to lobby directly to the politicians. (Let us know if you decide to do that, lol.)

Have you thought of taking a job somewhere like starbucks that offers WLS health plans even to part time employees?

That's what I have heard about exclusions. I have thought about getting a job but right now it's not possible.  I have 2 little ones (my youngest has Autism) and I am not able to leave him with a daycare because he goes to 4 appointments at the hospital with a speech/Occupational Therapist plus he goes to a developmental preschool for 3 hours a day 4 days a week. I am constantly on the go getting him to his appointments and school.   It sounds like a loosing battle!
