Redotex???

If your friend wants prescription diet drugs, she needs to go to her own doctor for them. It's extremely dangerous to hand off prescription drugs to someone else. People need to be monitored while on these drugs. Nancy

Nancy, My friend has her own prescription for phentermine but is going through some financial difficutlies and can't afford to buy it. I should have known not to post a question about this. I'll probably be infamously known (on this board) as the girl her peddled drugs from Mexico. I really do make wise decisions concerning my health and would NEVER take something that I did not have good research on. I would certainly not give it to my best friend (or my enemy for that matter). That's why I was asking if anyone had ever heard of it. I was just trying to get some information but ended up with a few lectures. Thanks for your input. You said nothing that I disagree with. An added note, noone has offered me any information that wasn't in reference to that FDA warning dated 1987. So I would really be interested to know if any information exists since the drug was reformulated. But since I have not been able to find any, I'm mailing the pills back to the Dr's office and asking that they refund my money. We'll see what happens.....

Hi! I just wanted to say, A few friends of mine, and myself have been on this diet drug. First of all there are two types of redotex.One that has a downer effect, which is the one that has a valium. There is another one that has an effect of speed. The redotex with valium makes you very sleepy, and very thirst cause of the diuretic it has. The redotex with speed gets you going all day, non stop,but you are also thirsty cause it has a diuretic. For both medications I was taking I did loose weight. I lost 7 pounds in a week, but that was due to all the water I was drinking, it gets excreted in the urine (Water lose). After that I lost about 3 pounds a week.I was very worried about taking this drug cause I am bradycardia. I was very desperate! I took them for about 3 months, I had no side effects like some of my friends. But I can tell you is that it does make you loose weight. Every person is different, they we we metabolize is different. The effects that others might have, might not be the same. So here is the basic facts that I have found (by exxperience), and if you do decide to take them, becareful and monitor yourself and see a physician, There are 2 kinds: one is an upper, and the other is a downer. They are illegal, They test positve for amphetamines You can have moods swings They can have insomnia, or too much sleep They can cause dehydration, you have excessive thirst, you urinate alot These drugs can effect your thyroid if taken for a prolonged time Lost or decreased appetite Can have some loose stools, Palpitations, rapid heart rate If you discontinue this drug, you need to be tappered off, Do not stop suddenly. Hey Jenn, I have taken Redotex before back in 84 or 85. I was taking it along with a water pill and a grease pill my doctor in Nuevo Laredo prescribed. I lost a total of 55 pounds in 3 months. I felt great, no problems. I was told by the doctor that I most definately had to eat no matter what. I had breakfast every morning, lunch and a steak with lettuce & tomatoes, baked potato and toast every evening. I was drinking lots of water due to the grease pill. It made me thirsty. I don't know if this is what you wanted to know or not. Just let me know. Penni
