Eat like a normal person VS. diet

Well, I WANTED to be able to just improve my eating habits, pick better foods and reduce portions, but here's MY truth (and speaking only for myself).... Having had my leaking port fixed in January (and getting restriction for the first time ever) and losing just 6 pounds (and knowing that I have not been eating right) I know now that I do not have the ability right now to use discretion.... and so I'm going to go on "a diet." I hope that I wont have to be a food nazi with myself forever, but at least until I build good strong habits... my goal is to be like the great posts above me.... moderation and control. Barbara

I believe that people who say that they're just going to eat the same only less are fooling themselves. A lot of people have the wrong idea of what "normal" is. They look at what the people around them are eating and say..that's must be normal because so and so is eating it and they are thin. The truth is that so and so doesn't have our screwed up metabolism and so and so doesn't eat like that 24/7. I have had to change my eating habits a lot. I try to eat healthy and exercise, but I've tried to make it realistic FOR ME. I know that I am never going to give up sweets forever...so I choose lower calorie sweets or I buy a couple cookies at the bakery instead of a bag of commercial cookies. I know that I will never go to a gym regularly..year round. So my exercise is walking, gardening or biking when it's nice and "walk & jog" on my mini trampoline when it's not nice. A BIG thanks to all *****sponded thus far! I appreciate your honesty and candidness in answering my questions! You're all great! I'll be taking a little piece of each of you (in the form of information and humor) with me to Puerto Vallarta!

I try to eat like a BANDSTER normal person. 3 meals per day, solid protein first, then veggies, then complex carbs. My old way of eating was way out of hand, so I needed a healthier structure. So far it is working. Chelle
