FOUND A FILL DOCTOR!-HAVE QUESTIONS..

"Life" I mean who knows what happens, I mean this guy could end up dying or going out of business. You've giving him a ton of money for nothing. I definitely wouldn't do it. Check some more, you might have to drive an hour but I'd do it if you didn't like the other guy.  I had my surgery 3-4 hours away, but I decided to start getting fills here, since if I had a problem with the fill the next day I wouldn't want to drive 4 hours again!? He charges $400 (something) fee and then $150 per fill. They do have the whole support thing. The $400 is to see the psychologist and dietician at first, just as if I was a new patient wanting to have surgery.  They were the cheapest, the others I found were like 800 for the first time.

Ryhan, Please read my post that I posted earlier today. I am in the middle of a huge mess because of most likely a screw up during a fill. Port was missed several times and now it has a leak so I have to have my port replaced. I also was banded in Mexico but am using a local surgeon for my fills. Since he wasn't my original surgeon I am lucky that he is fixing this free of charge. He said that it could be a port defect and if so he will get reimbursed from INAMED. If not and there was a puncture to the tubing, he said he will cover it himself. So my point is that you should carefully choose your fill doctor, just like you did for your band placement. I am trying to stay focused because going through something like this just when you are getting started is very discouraging. I do agree that the $3000 sounds like a little much. What if he does go out of business or you are just not happy with him. This doesn't leave much option for changing docs. If that was my only choice, I would use that $3000 for airfare and go back to Mexico for my fills. I was one of the lucky ones and had decent restriction after my first fill (1.25cc). It wasn't quite enough so I was getting another small fill and that's when disaster struck.  Anyway, good luck and remember cheaper amd easier is not always better. Carmen

I'm going to continue my search to find a reasonable doctor within driving distance. That sucks about your leak, but I have to say, that's pretty good doctor that is replacing it for free!!...he *could* have just denied the fact that he was at fault and left you on your own. He's a keeper.

That is a huge amount to me.  I just had my first fill today and it was $180 and the rest of them will be $165 and I only need to have a floro check one a year.  I wish you the best of luck.
