Last night's "Lost"

The "black stuff" (referred to as "the smoke" by the writers and producers) isn't new. It comes and goes, like the polar bear. Last season, Eco was the only person to stare it in the eye, so to speak, and it "backed down" from him. PS: Don't ask me to explain the polar bear! Or the significance of the numbers.

Yes, I do remember he stared it down previously, but they never really explained what it was. LOL, I was going to mention in my previous post how stupid it seems that they all just walk around the jungle and don't seem to be afraid of the polar bear. This is one wacky program. Laurel

I have watched "Lost" since the beginning, too, but I am starting to get really frustrated!  I don't think we've gotten nearly enough answers, only more questions.  I will be REALLY upset, tho, if after all this time, we are treated to a wacko "Twin Peaks" ending.

I agree!  I don't mind them constantly giving us new mysteries, but answer some of the old ones, for goodness' sake!  I so want Jack to tell Ben, "Sure, I'll do your surgery, but first let's have a good long talk..." Tami

The black smoke monster is a weapon used by the others; I'm guessing it's also the tool being used to create hallucinations such as the one's echo experienced--notice as soon as he found out his brother wasn't real it thrashed him to death. In season one jack "saw" his dad and all of the creepy walt sightings?bet the monster did that too.
