Good morning, After reading posts from other folks do you feel like you are blessed with a good doctor who cares about your progress? First of all I had a uneventful surgery, my doctor came to see me, the day after surgery and see how I felt before I was released from the hospital, he sent the nutritionist to the hospital, to give me post op diet instructions for the next 6 weeks along with the huge package of other eating instructions on my phased eating periods, and she gave me all sorts of freebies of sample protein powder mixes in a little sample package. I have seen my surgeon at least every once or twice a month since surgery, he has tracked my weight loss progress from day one, he personally does all my fills in his fill office, he does not overwhelm his practice with too many patients, he make sure he has time for all of his patients. He does not treat his patients like a number and never see them again, he is very skilled and has called me personally many times to answer any concerns or questions even late at night when I was overfilled. He tells me how good I look when I am losing weight... My fills have never took more than 5 minutes, he hits the bullseye on one stick, he always pulls out the existing saline before added more to double check my saline and no leaks...he quickly ordered an Upper GI to check the position of my band when I had my first too tight fill, all was good, we decided to reduce saline at that time... He jokes with me when I get into a rut with no weight loss and gives me pep talk on getting back on track...I have NEVER been turned down a fill, now since I am so experienced with fills, he lets me tell him on how many ccs I need since fills are an art not science and we both agree on how much saline I should have.   I was planning on relocating back to the Altlanta area next year, but I fear I will lose my great doctor...any body else feel as lucky and blessed to have their doctor treat them with great care? I have nothing but GOOD things to say about Dr Rincon, and I am blessed to have him as my doctor. Dr Rincon is always there for his patients, answering any question, and watching their progress. I can call him at any time and he is always presto, and if he is busy or cant talk at the moment, then he returns your call shortly. Many times when you call his office he answers the phone, very rare to get to talk to your doctor so easily.  Sometimes he just calls me to see how I am doing with the band or the fill...   Anyways, If I had to do this all over again, I  would pick him as my doctor, no doubt about it.  Thanks Dr Rincon for been such a wonderful doctor!

Can I give a hearty, "HELL YES!!!"?  I hear so many stories about people who have trouble even getting their surgeon to do something as basic as call them back (TWO WEEKS??!!) that I am eternally grateful that I chose the surgeon that I did!

Yes!  Dr. Faulkenberry is the most amazing and caring surgeon around.  I was so glad that he did my gall bladder surgery as well - I have total faith in him.  He is a true partner in my success, and will continue to be for a long time.
Be careful, or you may find yourself in my novel...

I am truly blessed to have found Dr. Melvin at Vanderbilt.  I live in Idaho and I traveled to Tennessee to have him do my surgery at Vanderbilt.  This is one huge hospital, but the one-on-one care I have received from him can not be beat.  He saw me of course before surgery, came to my room after surgery, (as I had to spend the night) and was there to discharge me.  He is always, always smiling and laughing.  He is the best dr. I have ever had in my life and trust me I've had many.  I had open-heart surgery and liked my dr. very much, but there is absolutely no comparison personality wise...Dr. Melvin is above and beond any dr. I have ever met.  He greets me with a huge smile when I go for my fills, and always does them personally.  He always accesses the port on one stick and doesn't use numbing medication nor fluoroscopy.  I have never felt a thing.  I always get a big smile and a hug before I leave, and he always has plenty of time to answer any questions I have.  He keeps in touch with me by e.mail and has just been wonderful.  He has arranged for my follow-up care when I go back to Idaho, but I hate leaving this fine dr. and don't think anyone will ever replace him.  I'm honestly considering flying back to Nashville for my fills and certainly for any problems. It is wonderful to be blessed with a great surgeon.  I read so many people that say their surgeon is good, but very businesslike.  Mine is very good and very friendly also.  He and his wife have a brand new baby and I've never seen a prouded papa.  He always has updated pics of the baby to show me when I see him. I will always thank God that I was lucky enough to find this wonderful dr. and that he has touched my life in such a positive way. Dee
