What is a good/experienced banding surgeon?

Actually, there is a better way to teach young god-docs a lesson.  You send them to the morgue to call a death. (Think about it, would they BE in the morgue if they hadn't been pronounced dead yet?)  Heh... A lock on that door works wonders for attitude adjustments.

Ohhhh, there are a variety of ways to give an attitude adjustment to god-docs.  I have enjoyed each and every single one of them. ;o)

I understand wanting to give a younger doc some experience but I'm a nurse and I've seen younger docs experimenting. ;o)  I'll take an experienced doc any day.  We all have to start somewhere and I agree with you there.  But this band is my last shot and being a normal size.  If it is between letting someone practice on me vs. getting it done right (again, this is my last shot at weight loss) I have to do what is right for me.  I want [not just] experience but I want a LOT of experience.  I want skill and expertise.  I'm just not going to get the same odds with a younger inexperienced doc. If we were talking about a blood draw... I'm with you.  Heck, I used to let the medical students practice everything from vitals to lab draws to ABGs on me.  But my band?  That's a whole different ball game.

Let me clarify.  I would MAYBE consider the younger doc now because it's been 2 years and he's agained some experience. But you know what doctor would have been in the operating room with the younger doc?  My doc.  So it seemed like a no brainer to me.

Now here we fully agree! I know I'll need at least a tummy tuck after I lose weight.  I'm willing to take my doc's suggestion on a plastics doc IF he will be there during surgery.  So I see what you are saying and I agree. I made research a full time job before being banded.  Honestly, I just don't want to go through that again! LOL  I drove to Mexico, verified credentials, talked to patients, talked to staff... you know, I don't wanna do it again.   I did that with two Mexico docs and 3 US docs.  I narrowed it down to 2 US docs and 2 Mexico docs.  I narrowed it further from there. I do trust my surgeon and if he says Dr. so and so is good for plastics, kewl beans.  As long as MY surgeon is in the OR during surgery, I'm good. BTW, congrats on having a well educated family!  That seems to be growing more and more rare.  Family plays a HUGE role in college educations and your family must certainly be doing something right.  Wish my family was the same.  Instead I have a 19 y/o niece that became preggers but it was okay.  She told me Auntie, it's okay because he got a promotion.  Now he's the DRIVER for Three Men and a Truck. Oye veh....

Thank you for that.  My mom has a 6 grade education and my father had a GED.  But you had better be on the way to the morgue to miss school.  And now, for most of the neices and nephews, it's assumed that you will take a stab at a higher education and if it doesn't work, you better have another plan that doesn't require me paying your bills or bailing you out of jail.  Monie don't play that! Your parents are proof that being overly educated is not what makes a good parent.  Common sense does.  Too many people are missing that today. Take my sister's daughter, for example... ;o) Your parents sound like wonderful people.  People you can be proud of.  Honestly, I do wish my family was the same but they aren't.  That's just the way it works.  They have other qualities and someday I'll discover those qualities.

My folks aren't perfect but I am proud to be one of their kids.  It helps that I'm their favorite.  I didn't get my dad to admit that before he died.  But I'm still working on my mom.   It could happen!
