Has anyone been denied by Blue Cross/Blue Shield and appealed and won or lost? My doctor's office tells me that this insurance company was supposed to possibly approve the procedure in Spring 2007, but who knows! I am very upset that I will potentially be denied after all of this work and if (and probably when) I am denied, the appeal process may not work! Any advice? Thanks! Kelly

Have you called BC and asked them? In Calif., they are one of the better ins. to have for WLS. BUT, it partly depends on your policy. Some folks here with BC can go to any Participating Dr., but not with mine. I must have a Participating Dr., PLUS have it done at a Center Of Excellence (which means that I must drive 3 hrs to have this procedure done). Again, don't trust your surgeon's office, call your ins. and ask.
