How long after a fill should I wait before drinking.  I am sooooo thirsty but I just had my fill about 30 minutes ago.

My first fill is this afternoon.  My doctor said to bring a bottle of water with me so I can drink before I leave.

My Dr. gave me a cup of water to see if I could tolerate it at the fill.

There is no need to wait at all. Bu****er is not a good test of a fill - we should always be able to drink water and other fluids freely, even immediately after a fill. I find a much better test of a fill is 1/2 cup of room-temp applesauce or yogurt. these are much closer to the consistency of foods, and should be able to be easily tolerated right after a fill. If not, the fill is already too tight, and will get even tighter in the next several hours, so some fill should be removed right then before the client leaves. The other major test of a fill is food. within 3-5  days max of a fill, we should be able to eat a meal of solid meat/chicken/fish and veggies - about one cup- 1.5 cups. If we cnnot, we are too tight and need some out. Ther should be no pain, no barfing, no pb's. Trying to keep a too-tight fill is the #1 thing that gets us into serious trouble. It's also very impt to be well-hydrated when we go for a fill. Otherwise, we cannot get an accurate fill. We should have no food for about 6 hrs before a fill, so the pouch is totally empty of food, but we should be drinking normally right up to the time of a fill. Sandy R
