I was eating chicken at lunch yesterday.. it said "spicy" chicken,  I asked a girl who had just eaten hers if it was really spicy, she said no, not at all. So I bought it.. and started to eat it.. HOLY COW!  My mouth is on fire.  I am not a big fan of spicy to begin with.. so it burnt my tongue like crazy.. How do you get the burning taste out ????

Drinking some water will not kill you!!   Have some water! don't burn your mouth..  It will just wash some of thr food thru and you may not feel full as long. Just continue good eating habits with future meals. Sandy R

Coming from south Texas we have lots of spicy foods. I have found tha****er makes it burn more. A sip of milk or maybe a spoonful of yogurt or pudding might work better.

Taking the band out of the question water is not the quick cure for something hot.  In fact it can just move the fire around.  Milk is one of the best things to cool you down after eating something hot.  (I had to learn this once I moved to Texas until the heat stopped bothering me.)

If I feel that I need water while I am eating, for whatever reason, spicy, dry, ect..then I drink some.  Not gulps and gulps, but a few sips usually does the trick.  I really don't thing it's that big of a deal.  Also, try milk to ease the spicy feeling.   Michelle

Water really isn't the best or only way to get rid of a burning mouth.  Actually, creamy or bready helps.  You could have a couple of crakers or maybe some milk.  Sugar will cut the burning sensations down as well, be we don't need that either.   I love spicy but try not to do much of it now.  I'm afraid that I will cause my stomach problems.  An occasional wouldn't be bad but I could do it daily and love every minute of it.

Milk or tea works better than water to neutralize a burning mouth. I would have had some milk.

The PA (physicians assistant) at my office recommended a piece of ice if I was thirsty and it was too soon to drink.  This is one of the things I struggle with because I love Mexican food and like it HOT! Tonya
