Hi, I can't wait to see the replies you get because I'd love to take Phentermine too! I am 7 months out but haven't lost any weight in about 6 weeks....I'd love to take it for a "boost" if you know what I mean! I'm sure some will flame us  but I still feel this way.... You will start to lose, I felt the same way as you. I think most of us lose, then it stalls, which is where I am now. Good luck to you!!!!  AC

I can't remember the young lady that has taken phentermine, but she is banded on this site. I think it has helped her.  For me I cant take or swallow anything but food.

One reason I had surgery was because I sort of lost hope that anything else actually worked to help me lose weight.  I never tried phentermine, if it is effective and safe to use (I took "REDUX" which was NOT safe) then by all means, take it if it is approved by your doctor. Oh yeah, I did not start losing weight with Lap-Band until my 4th fill.

My doctor perscribed phentermine prior to my lapband surgery.  I had to quit taking it 4 weeks before surgery to get it out of my system before I had surgery.  I still have my perscription and thought I might just see if it helped me any.  I'm writing down everything-not overeating-but not losing.  can't wait for my first fill but I don't get that til 6-8 weeks. :)

That's because your doctor realizes the extreme importance of allowing the band to seat in a groove around your stomach, which is the only thing that holds it against future band slips. Good doctor.

You're ONLY 3 weeks out.  You're not even supposed to lose weight right now! I know its a challenge but you need to wait until you reach proper restriction before you lose weight with the lap band. If you do decide to take the medicine please contact your surgeon first.  Get his opinion. Lori

Phentermine and cigarettes bought me open heart surgery.  I ignored the sleeplessness; the racing heart and all the other things that were happening to me because I was staying thin...I paid a huge price for it and will never touch either one again.  Lesson learned the hard way. Dee

I was put on Phentermine at my first one on one with my doc, mid Feb.  I was on it until 2 weeks prior to surgery which was 4-19-07 and am on it again. I have no trouble with it at all. I swallow it with no problems either.  When I had my first post-op check up 4-26-07, I had lost 17 lbs. When I weighed myself at home, 16 days later, I lost another 23 lbs.  I've also followed the diet set up by my doc too, not 100% but close enough. I just moved to the mushy stage.
