9 weeks out, no weight loss for 6, getting scared....

I'm so all over the place emotionally lately. I did pretty good last week, or so I thought. With a few slip ups, I figured I'd still be ok, and I gained back the 2 pounds I lost the week before, yet again, to be back to 25 pounds lost. yes, this is a lot, but I lost it the first three weeks and haven't gotten any further since then. I got my first fill last week and feel some restriction, but at times feel very little. My doc says he didn't want to see me until my weight loss stalled again and I feel like I can eat more, but aren't I already there? I am so discouraged that getting the fire under my butt to workout has been an impossible task as of late. Being so early on and having so much to lose, I know I should at least lose some without working out at this point as I've been here before, just not with the band. So I am starting to give up. Starting to feel like this was a huge mistake and not sure where to go to from here? Can anyone give me some words of wisdom? Thanks.

Sometimes it takes more than one fill to really have any restriction....My doc also said if I had not lost any weight for 6 wks. it was time for another fill.... he said it could take 2 wks for it to show up... so give it time you never know... but don't beat yourself up... we are only human...and the band is at least helping you eat less.... You have not made a mistake it does take time.. we can't do it overnight... it didn't take over night for us to learn our bad habit and it will take just as long for us to learn good habits.... Good luck and keep your chin up and I know how you feel .. Felt the same way.... Laura

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I just had my fill on the 2nd of August, so I must be patient. I need to try to take action versus sitting around crying about it too. It's just hard sometimes, especially when others look at me and ask "shouldn't you have lost more by now?" It's tough but I will try to hang in there and look at my day in a positive manner.

oH forgot to mention..... 25 lbs loss..... hello could you have done that alone.... so yes the band is working and I know the looks .... Yes I chose this to loose my weight slowly.... not fast so I will not look sick..... think of it that way.... Laura

And another thought..... when losing weight the hormones and whatever else is stored by your fat is released into your system.  Ignore those that say shouldn't you have lost more??  for some reason everyone thinks WLS= RnY, which is one of the fastest (at first) weightloss surgeries there are.  Tell them you are losing in a normal, natural rate!

Giving up is not an option!! I have had good days and bad  myself and I think I understand how you are feeling.  It sounds like soon as you were able to eat food you started to have the problem. How about looking at your food choices and portions Are you sticking to a high protein diet? I have a shake for breakfast, ,lunch a protein and veges, dinner protein, veges and sometime a little bit of a starch. If I get hungry between meals I try to stick with protein snacks and I splurge and have frozen yougurt once or twice a week. As for exercise try something small. It may sound silly but park you car far away from the doors to were you are going, if you spend a great deal of time sitting set an alarm to get up every hour and move for 3-5 minutes it will add up at the end of the day. I know this may sound crazy but put two bottles of water in your car and at each red light do curls with them until the light changes.  I have such a busy life that a structured exercise  program is not always realistic so I hope this helps you a little.  YOU CAN DO THIS!!! you are worth it!

Thank you for the great ideas! I do need to re-evaluate my food choices. I get about 60g of protein a day, but I see others getting much more. So instead of popcorn for a snack, I think I should get with the protein shakes instead. I see my eating faults and I am working on changing them and did pretty well this past week but still didn't see results, so it's time to get more strict with my carb intake and eat that protein! Starting today, I will do some sort of excercise each workday. I need ME time.

WE ALL NEED HELP!!  THAT IS WHAT THIS BOARD IS FOR.   I LIKE THE CURLS AT THE RED LIGHTS,  IT WILL BE GOOD FOR ME BECAUSE I DRIVE A SCHOOL BUS.  I COULD REALLY TIGHTEN THE ARMS.    NOW A GOOD PROTEIN SNACK IS  "LOW FAT ,STRING CHEESE"  ALWAYS IN THE FRIDGE.    TODAY FOR LUNCH I HAD TWO 4oz CONTAINERS OF LOW FAT COTTAGE CHEESE, PUT IT INTO A SOUP MUG.   THAN I OPENED A CAN OF RED KIDNEY BEANS, DRAINED THEM AND PUT A "COOKING SPOONFUL"  OF THOSE ON TOP OF THE COTTAGE CHEESE.  THAN I TOOK  A MED SIZE NICE JERSEY TOMATO WARM FROM THE GARDEN,  AND SLICED IT INTO SMALL CUBES.   ADDED A TOUCH OF SALT.   MIX IT IN WITH THE COTTAGE CH. KIDNEY BEANS, AND TOMATO'S " AND THEIR I HAD IT.    "LUNCH"........... I ENJOYED IT VERY MUCH. I TOLD MY HUBBY TO GET ME THE LITTLE 6 PACKS OF THE COTTAGE CHEESE.  THIS WAY WHEN I USE IT , THEY ARE ALWAYS FRESH,  NOT BEEN OPENED BEFORE. HOPE THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA FOR SOMEONE. TAKE CARE GOOD LUCK BRIDGET  K.

First, I LOVE your avatar, looks like me in the mornings Ok, first of all as you said 25lbs is a lot to lose Second, sometimes the body stalls after a big loss, it can mean you are losing inches.  It's very common to stall for a while after a big loss.  If you were several months out and in a stall for a month or two, then  you should start wondering and do what you could to break the stall.  Many times on here I've heard of people on a stall and very upset about it only to post a 5lb or more loss in just a few days after that! Third, many times a fill will kick in up to 2 weeks after have it done.  I'd give it a few weeks to make sure first.  You do NOT want to be too tight especially at the beginning.   DON'T GIVE UP AT THE STARTING LINE!!  Step back and realize that you have a tool that needs to be WORKED and the lapband is the one tool that you have to work more than other WLS.  But many have been successful with the band and you will be one too. Remember those over used but still true words: YOU DIDN'T BECOME OVERWEIGHT OVERNIGHT SO YOU WON'T BECOME SKINNY OVERNIGHT EITHER! Last.....you know, I'd love to be in your shoes right now, I've been trying to finance WLS since 2004 and been slapped down many times.  I haven't given up.  So don't YOU dare give up!!  Or else I'll come up and this ol' granny will yank that band out and use it to wrap around my neck to help me. Say,wonder if I could do that with my dog's collar??  I'd look  more like your avatar than I really want if I do LOL!!
