Mine was McDonalds.  Boy do I hate McDonalds!   I had taught a training class in San Antonio all day and was driving back to Houston the night before my surgery.  So I ate McDonalds...filet of fish.  Not exactly what I would choose but I was in a hurry to get back to Houston and didn't want to stop for dinner.   I would have chosen Olive Garden if I could have...Tour of Italy.   It's so much food that even pre-op I could only eat half and be stuffed!

Okay, no proud boat either for me. I took the attitude that this was my last opportunity to binge on whatever I wanted without the guilt that always plagued me before. I really went crazy with the last meal concept- I started as soon as I got approved in November then went on til I had my surgery in January!  I ate all the foods I knew would not be part of my life anymore--lots of McDonalds, pasta, pizza, potatoes, CARBS!!!!!!! In fact I ate about 8-10 extra pounds worth!  I wish I could do it over and not have gone as crazy. I'd be that much farther ahead.

I don't miss those foods and truly made peace with knowing I can't eat them again. In fact, when I have a little bite of a junk food type food- it doesn't even taste that good!

I had a few last meals during the last days before surgery. I did so well the first week of liquid/low carb diet, but the second was hard. First, we went to Planet Hollywood on Monday night and I had Fried lasagna bolognaise and a chocolate desert sampler that me and BF shared. Then 2 nights later, I went to our Ale House and ordered their Chicken Nachos. These are HUGE and soooo good, full of chick, cheese and sour cream! Then on Thurs night (just before surgery on Friday) I had my last McDonalds meal. I had my usual, 1 Big Mac, 2 Filet o Fish, 1 Chicken Snack Wrap and some Fries!!! I use to eat this all the time...oh, what I would do for a Big Mac now, but I will not let myself get one!

Oh boy...I had pretty much a weeks worth of "last meals!"  Silly when I think about it now.  I made sure I had chinese food, Italian food and for my real last meal we went to the Outback Steakhouse. We had cheese fries, then I got the Alice Spring's Chicken.  I stuffed myself 2 weeks before surgery!Good thing I started liquids 10 days before because I dropped 13 pounds!  Funny how I have eaten those things since surgery, so its kinda silly to have a "last meal!"

A banded friend of mine got me over the idea of a "last supper" when I was going through this. She reminded me that "You aren't giving up food. You aren't giving up foods you love. You're only giving up huge quantities of them and, if they're really unhealthy, you'll be giving up the frequency and allocating them to special treats. So get over it because you're not giving up food and you're not going to be on the same sort of strict food list as RNY folks. You WILL get to eat your favorites again, just much more sensibly like a healthy normal person so don't act like you're going to be living on boiled chicken, steamed broccoli and brown rice with no seasoning for the rest of your life." So, I got over it and got myself out of that mindset. Letting go and indulging in a mega snarf-fest doesn't put you in the best frame of mind for surgery. Remember why you're doing this...I'm sure that part of it is a desire to develop a healthier and more sane relationship with food. Start today...remind yourself: "It will be there tomorrow...I don't have to eat it all today." And I enjoy sushi (my fave food) about once a week. :) Nancy

I didn't really want to go for a "last binge" so my husband and I went out for sushi. I know rice might give me trouble in the future and I might have to switch to sashimi so I had a few last pieces of nigiri yellow tail and part of a vegie roll. Yum, it wasn't heavy and it hit the spot. So glad I didn't go overboard.
