I've got one wee****il my last visit and then the process will begin for my pre approval. My biggest concern is I haven't lost a pound! I've been under so much stress this summer with finances and kids activities that I haven't done so well on this diet. Will this prevent me from getting an approval? If I bite the bullet and diet for this week and drop a few pounds, will that count?? I have aetna and I've heard they can be very picky about having everything so-so. Any advice? Kerry

Was the diet for the insurance company?  If so, I wouldn't worry too much about it.  I would be more upset if it were the pre-op diet for your surgeon.  The purpose of that diet is to prove you are serious about losing weight and to shrink your liver which makes surgery easier.  Good luck with everything  The best is yet to come. Thanks for the help Cindy, yes it is for the ins. co. I am afraid that they'll see no weight loss and deny me. I hope they will see that at least I didn't gain!  Kerry

If it's for insurance approval purposes, the whole point is to prove you cannot do this on your own. If it's for pre-op liver-shrinking, it's not about weight loss but reducing the fatty deposits in your liver. If the surgeon is a sadist and thinks you should prove you're "serious" by showing you can do it without the tools surgery puts into place, I'd be trotting off to another surgeon frankly. If we could do this on our own we wouldn't be employing a surgeon. Nancy

Thanks Nancy! That helps me feel better! I'm stressing over this approval process for the insurance company. My dh keeps telling me to not worry, if it doesn't work the first time, it's one step closer to getting it done.  Kerry
