What makes these Dr.'s MOVE?

So I find out I may have a leak but they can't see me until the 31st for an X Ray?  I mean really... there could be a problem with my band but what the heck... lets just take our time about things.  No big deal.... I waited this long to lose weight why not add another few weeks or months to the agony. So frustrating!

Aww, that does sound frustrating... I often wonder this myself... when and if there is a problem what do you have to have wrong with you to get an appt. right away... I think there are just so many of us obese patients and they are so overwhelmed.   It is aggravating.

I understand what you mean......My Dr. only does fills twice a month....and that is if he can fit it in his surgery schedule (he does all his fills under flouro).  I am on the books to get a fill on the 30th but it is not a guarantee.  I need a fill desperately!!!  What a pain.....but this is the Dr. I chose so I guess I will just have to deal with it.......Hang in there!!!!  Marcy

What symptoms are pointing to a possible leak? Are your fills relaxing after a few days of getting them? or when getting another fill, is the fillgiver trying to withdraw the existing fluid to check it and it's not the same as what was recorded as going in? And while yea, it's frustrating to have to wait for appointments, it's not life threatening or band threatening...just annoying. You've already lost 28% of your excess weight in 2 months...that's way ahead of the target rate of 1-2lbs/week on average over time... Nancy

Nancy,  I actually lost 18 of the 26 pounds PRE Op.  Then only 8 since surgery and gained 2 back now so that would make it only 6 since surgery.  Not a good rate of loss post op. I went for my third fill this morning.  I never felt any extra restriction from fills other than the restriction I got from having the surgery.  Whatever I got from having just the band there... which was just from swelling in the beginning.  Then I found I basically could eat anything except most bread. Anyway... the nurse was surprised I didn't feel any restriction at all and could eat large meals fine.  She decided to put in another cc.  Which would have come out to 3cc's in my 4cc band.  She always checks her fills by pulling out whatever is in there and today only the 1cc that she put in came back along with bubbles (she said).  She said this indicates to her that I may have a leak.  She figured she should have at least seen 2cc's figuring one was in the tubing.  She only got 1cc back. My Fleuroscopy is now scheduled for August 31st.  I'm throroughly annoyed.  I can hardly wait to see how long it will be for a replacement should they determine it is a leak.

I'm sorry they aren't able to see you sooner.  I hope they're wrong and that you don't have any issues with your band, either. Lori
