Good Morning everyone!   It's been said that when you PB the food just pops up and out. Well for me it is 100% projectile vomiting. I know this is gross, but how do you pb? I'm just worried about the force hurting my band. Any and all comments welcome    Have a wonderful Monday

I haven't had many PB's since being banded but for me I end up coughing it out.  Pre-band I could never vomit without helping it along, which I know is gross, but you've gotta do what you gotta do!

Do you have a strong gag reflex?  Maybe that's why it is like that for you?  I don't know?  Maybe you should talk to your doctor just to make sure.  Do you PB often?

I wi**** was like yours. I guess I do have a strong  gas reflex. I dont pb often, but when I do YUCK!  I will ask my doctor. I brought the subject up at the last support group and most have the same experience as you, only one or two like me. The doc's asst didnt seem to think it was a problem but I plan on asking him as soon as I can.  Thanks for your help

I haven't done it yet, and am not looking forward to the first time.  But everyone that I know that has the band and does this, it is just a cough and then it comes up.   Chrissy

Thanks Chrissy.  That's seems to be the norm. I'm going to check with my doc, I was just curious as to how many experience what I do.

I don't PB very often, but when I do I usually slime for quite a while first and when it does come up, it isn't gentle at all. I think some of us are just like this.

What is PB?????  Is it when you overeat and you feel the pressure in your chest and you know some of it is goint to come back up and you spit up a bit?  Is that what PB is??

Good Morning Angie, Maybe I'm just fortunate, but I've never PB'd or vomited since being banded (knock on wood!) I could be wrong... but I credit it to eating SUPER slow, putting smaller bites into my mouth, and chewing things up longer than I normally would. Now getting "Stuck" is another thing!!  When that happens I raise my arms over my head while walking around and just keep moving, it seems to help! Take Care,
Jeanie

I used to pride myself on my stomach of steel.  I hated throwing up and could count on ONE hand the number of times in the last ten years I was sick, BEFORE being banded.  Now, I couldn't count.  But yes, PB'ing for me is a lot different.  It is like reguritation - open my mouth, cough and out it comes.  (Like a mother bird feeling her chicks)  There is no stomach heaving at all.  I have NEVER had to stick my fingers or anything down my throat for it to come up.  It is my pouch's contents and that is it.

The projectile vomiting you are having is NOT good for your band at all.  I recently had a stomach virus and had an episode of violent throwing up.  I was dry though - nothing could make it past the band and out - really horrible feeling actually.  I went to the Dr for follow-up, and although he told me not to worry, he did say that forceful vomiting like that is not good.

So, this doesn't happen a lot for you does it?  I PB about twice a month now and it's always my own darn fault ... eating too much or too fast, not chewing, etc.  Don't get too worried, but hopefully you aren't doing this a lot are you??
