Terrible Heartburn after my fill

I had my second fill today and all went well (have 3.5 ccs in a 10cc band). Tonight though I am having terrible heartburn. I stayed with liquids afterwards as my doctor suggested. I took my meds as usual just before bed and now have really bad heartburn. This is new for me. Any suggestions?  Thanks.

How big were the meds...with the fill they may not go down into the lower stomach  like they did before.  If they are sitting in your pouch you need to drink more water to wash them thru.  Tums is ok for us....but wash the meds thru first.

Heartburn could be a sign that you are too tight. If it continues, you should consider discussing it with your doctor. Minor heartburn can be helped by eating earlier in the evening and drinking a glass of water before going to bed. Also sleeping slightly elevated. I hope it gets better. Frances

Rose, one of the basic band needs is to never take any meds right at bedtime - they should be taken at least an hour before bed, with a full glass of water to wash them completely thru the pouch. Other basics include all meds cut into pieces smaller than an aspirin, or taken in liquid form, or in a form this small if they cannot be cut.  Also, no solid food for 2-3 hrsbefore bedtime.  all these things are designed to prevent the very dangerous reflux / gerd you're experiencing. NO reflux is ever ok. If we have relux even when following these rules, it indiates the fill is too tight, and we need somne out quickly, before we get into trouble.  but i'm betting the fill is ok, if you follow these rules. sandy r at goal > 4 yrs Kuri patient educator
