Drinking question

Not alcohol related...just a question about drinking liquids.  I'm 2 weeks post-op (yeah!).  I'm doing well with mushy food.  But I wonder if I'm getting a little lax with how I'm drinking.  I have a glass of crystal light next to me and without much thought I took the glass and drank a good size drink - 3 or 4 swallows and then I wondered if I should be doing that.    I don't have pain or discomfort.  What are you thoughts??

I drank normally right after surgery and had no problems.

right after surgery, I went slow, but now that I am almost 5 weeks I chug it every day, Its a habit I have and it causes me no problems.

Drinking quickly may work for a while, but it would be wise to get into the habit of sipping your drinks.  As you achieve proper restriction, chugging is not going to work.    New habits take a while to develop, so you may as well start now.  Cindy

I've never had any problems drinking liquids, even chugging them, since surgery, except for a short period when I was slightly over-filled, and had to slow down drinking liquids early in the morning. Tami

I've always been able to drink normally since surgery.
Be careful, or you may find yourself in my novel...

That's another one of those 'just because you can doesn't mean you should' issues.  The purpose of not drinking with or for an hour afer a meal is........so you won't wash the food out of your pouch and on down the line.  When you do that, you get hungrier much sooner and it makes it harder to control your eating.  Not drinking is not a punishment or just some silly rule somebody made up........it's to make the wls journey easier for us and possibly more successful for us.

I meant the quantity/speed I was drinking - certainly not with meals, but as a stand alone beverage.
