good grief, I have restriction....real real REAL restriction

I just got a fill on Wednesday...but this is different than anything I've ever felt before.

This was fill number 6 for me.  On about fill number 4,  I actually had restriction where I would get stuck if I didn't chew well enough or something like that...but if I let myself ,  I could still eat a lot of food.  ( please note that I said IF I let myself).

Well,  today I am eating solid food for the first time.  It is chili,  but a different texture than wendy's chili,  which in my opinion is fairly soupy.   This chili is more of a mush type.

So I portion out my cup of chili,  add a little 2 % cheese.  I finished MAYBE half of it,  and I just can't eat anymore.  I did have some yogurt with a little granola for breakfast.

I've just NEVER been physically not able to eat more with the band,  I have always stopped myself, and I was satisfied most of the time.  This time,  the band definitely stopped me.

This is a new feeling for me...so thanks for letting me ramble

I'm sorry!!!   Ya know, it could mean my band is too tight....I just don't know.   After 6 months of being banded and 5 fills,  I had never felt this,  so I thought I never would,  or maybe that I SHOULDN'T feel this way.   The jury is  still out on that one,  hopefully I'm not going to have too many stuck episodes or I will know my answer!

No, you sound right on.  I heard one time that if you have real restriction, you can't eat more than half a sandwich, and that's how I guide myself.  If I can eat more than 1 piece of bread, or over about a cup of food, I need a fill.  Work that band, girl!

Hi, I was wondering if you think I should just keep going without a fill. I have not seen my doc since banding. I can not eat more then 1 cup of food and I have to eat very slowly, I can feel it start to back up if I eat too fast. Even if I drink too fast, I can feel it pool in my stoma. And I have to stop and wait for it to go down. I have not had anything get stuck, but boy have I felt the back up feeling/pain in my chest and it just lasts a few seconds but I know I went to fast or did not chew well enough. I'm not loosing very fast, but I am not gaining either. Just wondered what other people thought, I do get full and find I am hungry about every 3 -4 hours. thanks

Hi Cathy - I definitely think you do not need a fill.  You sound like your restriction is right on.  If you're not losing weight, I would check out what you're eating and log your calories day to day.  Best of luck!!

Hi Janina, I'm not sure how many calories I am suppose to eat, I have not met with a NUT and so I am just eating mostly protien things, beans, lentils, chkn, cottage cheese, nf plain yogurt instead of sour cream, home made soups, home made chilie, with lots of protien stuff in them, no bread, rice or pasta, at all. No sweets, no juice, maybe sf jello now and then, but not daily. The one thing I can think of thats keeping my loss so slow is opening my child care at 4 am and closing at 6 pm wipes me out. I dont have any energy at the end of the day to exercise. The age group I care for are 4 mo, 5 mo, two 2 yr olds one 18mo, and one 3 yr old.... 6 of them. Even to go for a walk, plus its dark. I do know i have to start doing something, even if its just jumping around with the kids, I did a few days last week and my left side where my port is really started to hurt, so I thought I should wait a few more weeks. I will be 5 wks tomorrow. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them, thank you so much for your input it means alot to me!

Good luck, just be careful.  I hope this is the one that will get you where you want to go.
