A Long-time vet says ...

AIN'T GOING NO WHERE! How's that for a double negatives? I don't post much, but I do still reply and PM here quite a bit. After nearly four years, the gastric band was removed. The reason I've not posted about it was first, that booger hurt! And secondly, it's hard to properly explain just why "this isn't liable to happen to you." I had many non-band related surgeries (seven) since having the band and came into it with health problems which constantly challenged the Lap Band's effectiveness. I have not regained a lot of weight -- I was empty or mostly empty this past year and I maintain well on an empty band.  On its removal, my beloved SupaDoc Karl LeBlanc found the band to be properly positioned with no erosions associated with it. My esophagus seems to hate the pressure of the banded stomach and I was having chest pain and related issues. I also still have unresolved GYN issues that cause nausea, swelling and abdominal pain. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I don't want to discourage or scare anyone, but I wanted to explain in my own words what happened. Bandsters, stay the course and you will find me right there next to you -- banded for life! Onward, Frances PS: Yes, I didn't mention the pain, but this hurts so much I can't properly put it into words

I wondered how you were doing.  Thank you for coming back and telling us.   I hope you heal quickly and get the other things cleared up too.   I am sorry you lost your band.  You have always been an inspiration to me and always will be.  Please take care of you and keep in touch when you can.

Frances, you are one of the sweetest people on here.  I hope you get the GYN problems resolved.  Are you going to look into another WLS?  I wish you the best.

It's good to know that it came out with no problems!

This is why a lot of us got the band...you never know when or if you may need to take it out.

Good Health to you on your post-band journey!

I am sorry for your pain and loss of the band, but I hope it helps some of the complications you were having.  I am glad you are sticking around.  You have a way with words, woman!  I always enjoy your posts.
