Thanks Angie, Oh if you could only know ahead of time if you'd be one of the lucky ones. I fear to that it only may work for a short time and then Aunt Flo may come back with a vingince (sp?). Glad to hear it worked for you!

I had ablasion surgery twice - in 2002 and 2004.  I also had several cysts removed from my ovaries.  My gyn never gave me the choice of having a hysterectomy.  When I has having problems with ovarian cysts again last year, I had to fight to finally get a hysterectomy and it was the best decision.  No more pain and no more waiting for the cysts to come back again.  If this is a recurring problem you're having, my opnion is to just do the surgery once and for all.  Good luck!

I had an ablation in 2001, it helped some for the first few months, then my period came back with a vengance.   A year later I had a vag hyst and it was the best thing that I have ever done for myself, prior to lap band  I kept my ovaries, but they had a really hard time "waking up" my Dr said so I took HRT for about a year, still had those "sahara desert" times, so I quit taking them, and lo and be hold, everything reversed and I no longer had that problem anymore, but now I had 2 huge cysts on my right ovary, and it came out last year, which was worse than the hyst!  BTW I was 32 when I had my hyst. So, I don't have a very high opinion about the ablation.

Thanks for your honesty! That is what I wanted...the good, the bad and the ugly on both. So, are you losing your ovaries now? I'd love to tkae it all if I go with the hysterectomy....but oh how I would dread the HRT.....I fear the weight gain that everyone talks about. My sister had an ablasion, then a partial hysterectomy and is now scheduled for the other part of the hysterectomy and I was just wondering if she was a few and far between that the ablasion didn't work for, or was that pretty much the norm. Thanks Again.

I had an ablasion and am THRILLED with the results. I have not had any bleeding or spotting since. It had a very short recovery period (I was up and back doing everything the next day). I would personlly only have a hysterectomy if it was nessasary.

Definetely try the ablasion first!  I had one back in September and it was a breeze.  Unfortunately, it did not work for me.....but I'm the ony person that I know to not have success with it.  I had lapband May 27th and I'm hopeing once I get some weight off my periods will become lighter, if not, I will probably schedule a hystrectomy next spring.  Good luck!

Hi Michelle,

I had an Ablation in December. I had horrible bleeding prior to it, enough to make me anemic all the time. It's been awesome for me. Second best thing to the Band that I"ve EVER done. I haven't bled since.

I had mine done at the hospital though, outpatient, but I was under general anesthesia.
I could have done either one too, but opted for the lesser of the two.

I had a hysterectomy 1 year ago. It is the best thing I have ever done! The doctor told me that even with an ablasion I would probably need a hysterectomy before long anyways. I wish I would have done it a few years ago.
