Good evening, I was wondering if anyone has ever frozen a protein shake? I was wondering if it would make a good substitute for when I want something frozen......I am thinking maybe some Chocolate Unjury, I went for a second fill today and the PA gave me a sample........of course I can't try it out because I am on clear liquids............but I am going to!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Not exactly.

When I make a protein shake to drink out of a glass, I use half frozen milk, half cold milk, so it's like milkshake.

And I have made many of eggface's protein ice cream recipes, which are basically frozen protein shakes and very good.  Worth investing $20 in an ice-cream maker.  However, I only make a tiny amount at one time because ice cream is a weakness of mine and it's so hard to eat just one portion.  Here's a link to eggface's site.  Enter "protein ice cream" in the search block to pull up a list of recipes.  http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

Yep. When I got bored with drinking my SlimFast shakes, I poured them into a cup, froze them, and then ate it with a spoon... Yum!

I like to throw frozen fruit in mine, which is really nice in the winter when fresh fruit is really $$$.

It costs more but when i couldnt drink a whole protein shake from my local booster juice I would drink half and freeze the other half.  It did not freeze solid like ice cream but was good enough to eat later in the evening or the next day.  I managed to find one with lots of protein added-two boosts of whey, peanut butter, banana and chocolate.  It tasted good when I was not having good luck at home with the unjury packets but helped me make the high protein requirements when I was on liquids still.

If you check out this site (http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/), she puts protein drinks in her ice cream maker.  Legal "ice cream."  I just gave my ice cream maker last year to the church garage sale.  Now I want another one, lol.

Michele,
I've made a frozen protein shake by mistake a bunch of times.  Here's the deal.  I'll make a protein shake in the blender and pour it in a cup.  Then the timer for the dryer will go off, so I'll shove the cup in the freezer and go to the laundry room.  By the time I get back, I'll get diverted and forget that the drink is in the freezer and sit down to look at the mail or put the laundry away and it might take a half hour or so to get back to my protein drink.  By that time, the drink is half way frozen and I need to use a iced tea spoon to get something out of the cup!  A chocolate/banana protein drink is pretty darn good!
