Strange Dreams After Surgery

Has anyone had really strange dreams the week or so after surgey (or during the weight loss)?

I have always had vivid dreams, but now the dreams are just way out there.  They are so real, and disturbing.  Nothing has changed except the surgery and taking a 7 days off work...

Could it be hormones, anesthesia?

Thanks!

Hey! Are you still taking your pain meds? I know when I had a very severe kidney infection, the pain meds they gave me made me have Totally wacked out crazy dreams! It was weird. Not sure what causes it but it was freaky.  Hope you have better dreams in the nights to come!! I wish that for you!  have a good day.

Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be!!!

Big changes in your life equal big changes in your subconcious.  I had weird dreams after surgery.  They mostly centered around food, eating, eating things I wasn't supposed to be eating, my upcoming fills, etc...but they were vivid and crazy!

Its from the anesthesia. I just had surgery and the nurse the anesthesia docotor and my doctor all told me its completly normal to have strange dreams after the surgery.

Any time I am on a diet, I have these dreams about being at a big banquet or cafeteria with tables and tables of food.  The food I remember the most were the gooey desserts.  Rich chocolate cakes, all kinds of pies, glazed and iced donuts, dark chocolate iced brownies...you know the stuff! (Sorry if I made you all drool) But by the time I fill my plate and before I sit down to eat...I WAKE UP!!!  Never got one lousy bite.  And trying to go back to sleep and continue with this dream is impossible....never happens!!

As you can tell, I am a sweets and pastry addict, and haven't had them since before my surgery almost 3 months ago.  So I guess my best bet is to dream about them, since I'm trying to stay away from most of it.  The occasional sugar-free sweets will satisfy me until my next sweets cravings.  Just had to share one of my weird dreams about food!

It could be any of the other things mentioned or hormones as suggested. I haven't had them since surgery but when I was pregnant I would. It was wild because sometimes I would have a hard time remembering if what I was thinking about really happened or if it was a dream.
VERY VIVID DREAMS. They freaked me out and I think even my husband thought I might be losing it until our midwife told us it was normal and thought to be due to hormones and/or anxiety.

When I am sick in real life, I have vivid dreams about being in trouble.  Once, I had a vivid dream about being mugged.  Another time, I dreamed I got beat up in an ice hockey game.  My subconscious translates "feeling bad" into "being beaten up."

Interestingly, I didn't have any vivid dreams after lapband surgery, mostly because I didn't feel that bad afterwards.
