Sliming, foam, and PB'ing...

Sorry, gross post question!

So please tell me what your definition of each of the above is.  I have noticed if I eat the wrong foods, I start burping, and foamy saliva comes up with it. Last night, I went to the Cheesecake Factory with family. I stupidly ate 2 pieces of the white bread they put on the table, and it was very painful. I had to go to the restroom, and I kept burping up saliva mixed with the bread, and I kept burping it up and spitting it into the toilet until it was all gone and the pain was gone. So I didn't really throw up, but I could make myself burp all of the bread out. Is that what you call PB'ing? If I drink water too fast, I can get foamy burps of just saliva and water.

Ok this is just my opnion but in the band world I think there is only sliming and PBing and that foaming is something RNY people do. That said I have had foamy sliming episodes. If it is just slimy and mucousy it is a slime. What you did with the bread is PBing as in producing something in the form of food with a burp. A PB isn't like vomiting because the food never gets to your stomach to mix with the stomach acids so it is just slime and food but it is burped up. Ok that's all the grossology I can do today.

I Get sliming and burping if I eat too fast, don't chew enough, or eat the wrong foods.  Foods that will bring it on include soft bread, sometimes chicken.  Drinking a cold drink can bring on sliming and PB'ing--including my cold protein drink.  So now I try to eat very slowly, take very small bites, avoid icy drinks (Oh how I miss my ice water!) and avoid the obvious offenders like soft bread and chicken.  What I'm doing is basically following all the rules outlined by my doctor and his staff--I'm one who always has to do things the hard way.

I had always read about PB'ing and sliming, but never really paid attention until it happened to me. The doctor will ask if I've ever had any vomiting, and the answer is no. But I have had times where I've managed to get the offending food back up and out by burping it out. For me so far it has been bread, tortillas, turkey pepperoni (which hurts because of the spiciness), and walnuts. I ate some Spanish rice in a Mexican restaurant with no problems.

And why no cold drinks? I can't even eat a popsicle without getting some foamy burps. Drives me nuts!

You were sliming.  A PB is a productive burp.  Your body sometimes try to clear the stuck feeling by burping.  In the more serious case your body goes into a slime mode to deliver mucus to clear the stuck food.  It can be nasty.  I can't eat bread ever.  If you slime you should give yourself a day to recover and just drink liquids.  Take Care Diane

When your doctor asks if you've been "vomiting," what he really means is, have you been "productive burping"?  So next time he asks, let him know that you have been having PB'ing.  The reason the doctor wants to know is because frequent PB'ing is bad for you.
