I have a fill appt scheduled for 11/24 - This will be my 4th fill and I am *hoping* for restriction.  When I originally scheduled it I didn't realize it was right before Thanksgiving, but now I am glad it is because I just want to lose this weight!!!!  Even if it means missing out on a big Thanksgiving dinner, I can still participate in all of the family conversations, card games, etc.  Gosh...I am just ready to lose more weight!  So, my vote, at least for my self, would be to keep the appointment and lose instead of gain this Thanksgiving!!!

Sincerely,
Elizabeth

Fill AFTER Thanksgiving...just in case there is no doctor around to do an unfill over the holiday.

Hi I am getting my 2nd fill tomorrow am. I am glad I made up my mind to get it done before thanksgiving so I wouldnt pig out like last year. Holidays are not all about eating like we grew up hearing we need to think about what they really mean to each of us.

I had the same dilema but this would have been my first fill ever. I am due for my first fill on the day before Thanksgiving and my Dr asked me if I wanted to do it then, meaning clear liquids that day and the following or I could wait until the following Monday. I chose Monday because I don't plan on over eating but I would like to at least have a little bit to eat and I can't picture myself sitting around with the family drinking chicken broth and sucking on a popsicle.

Hi Jackie,
I have a fill scheduled 2 days before Thanksgiving and I considered the same thing. But you know what? I am going to do the fill. It's important that we remember why we had the surgery in the first place. Our ultimate goal should be to get away from life being all about FOOD, even on the holidays. If you are like me, when I allow myself to eat whatever I want, it doesn't just last a day and it's easy to spiral out of control and keep making more and more excuses to put off getting the fill. Don't put it off. If you get too tight, you can go in the next day to get an unfill. I think you should get your fill and you will feel so much more impowered and on Thanksgiving, let this year be all about the FAMILY and not about the food for once.
That's what I am going to do.
Good luck to you hun,
Becky

So much good advice!!  If it were me, i would wait! BUT i would be sure to remember my band rules and not pig out!  enjoy your family time and dont focus so much on eating.  I say after because "what if" you got over filled? it would make for a miserable time.

Just my idea of what i think i would do!!

good luck!
Renee

I got my fill Nov 11th.  I also considered putting it off till after the holiday but I know that would just be an excuse to overeat.  I'm glad I had it done.  I plan to add a few more veggies to the menu for me.  I have been having a hard time with 'the slimeys' so I know I'll behave.

My own personal opinion is AFTER Thaksgiving.  First of all, if it is too full you will not be able to get an unfill till Monday anyway.  That could make for a very long and painful weekend.  Secondly, I would not want to get stuck and have to throw up around my entire family.  Try and make the best decissions you can and remember it is ONE meal.  We did not get fat from over eating ONE meal, once a year.

Regardless what, it is YOUR decission and don't let gilt get in the way from either side.  Have a happy thanksgiving with your family and enjoy the great gifts that God has given us all this year.

wow...you are getting quite the offerings of opinions! lol. That's awsome! well here is mine...I'm suppose to be filled on the 25th and I'm looking forward to it now. I wasn't at first, but now I am. This will be my 4th fill. When I got to thinking about how many things are actually "soft" foods at thankgiving time, we are gonna be fine! mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, pies, sweet potatoes, jello, you name it! The only thing I can think of that would give trouble is the bird itself! Just pace youself. You just need to take it slow. You will be ok. Just psych yourself out for the positive stuff. You will be fine!

Why do I love food when it doesn't love me back?  Stupid food....doesn't understand our relationship yet!
