Morning! Im not sure what this is so I thought I would come to you guys before eating more and getting sick! I made a scrambled egg with a half slice of cheese. I took maybe 3 bites off of a baby fork and now I have a heartburn type pain in my chest. I did chew well...could it be that my band may not tolerate eggs well? This is my first day of pureed/soft foods. Thanks for the help!

For some reason I can't eat eggs unless they are hard boiled and chopped up. I have tried scrambled and fried, but they get stuck going down. It isn't like heart burn, it is more like a feeling that a softball is trying to go down. So I avoid them. It is the same pain I get when I eat anything bread like too.

I ate a lot of pinto beans/cheese when I was on soft foods. I tolerated that, yogurt, soups, cottage cheese, applesauce and things like that so much better.

I don't have a problem with eggs but I know many people do.  I sometimes have a problem with cottage cheese or ricotta cheese.

My dr. told me that many people also have problems with ground meats such as hamburgers and meatloaf although I don't. I cannot eat breads, steak or chicken.
Everyone is different from what they can and cannot tolerate. It is all a  learning process.

It just depends on when I eat the chicken for me. I try to make sure I don't eat it dry and chew it to death if I can. I find that when I go out to dinner, I tend to eat too fast or not chew enough cause I am talking. I ordered a seafood cassarole the last time I went out, thinking that ok..nothing really too solid that would get stuck, but darn it, I didn't chew well enough a bite and darn if I was not heading to the restroom soon after swallowing.

So it just depends for me. I sure miss bread though, but it is not in my life anymore.

When I go to Wendy's now, I get the chili.

Everyone is different that is for sure.  I never have had a problem with eggs.  Have you tried egg beaters with a little skim milk added.  Those are much easier for me to eat....might be worth a try!

I had egg salad yesterday and then today I tried scrambled egg with cheese. That went down fine for me. I just chewed and ate slow and it was normal. Did you try oatmeal or mash potatoes yet?

I went to a picnic and ate a little sausage, cheese and beans...just tiny bites and I was fine.

I do fine with eggs, but everybody is different on every kind of food.  Another thought is reflux.  I had it horrible and had no clue what it was, but it was a hurting in my chest.  But it came and went, even woke me at night for days before I figured it out.

It's much later now, so how are you now?  Did you continue eating then or have you tried anything else yet today?

Hope you're better, let me know.

I make a chicken salad with light miracle whip/pecans/craisins/ and if I don't chew it really well.... I feel tight... I've never gotten sick or gotten stuck... but I use egg beaters with a little milk... they are moist.  I've got 5cc in my 9cc REALIZE band.

I would say not chewing enough and eating too fast is bringing on the "you are gonna get stuck" warning. That pain is what I get when I eat too fast.
