I am really at a loss...I was banded July 7th and lost 25 lbs in the first 4 weeks.  I have lost only 1 lb in the last three weeks!  I eat between 800 and 900 very healthy calories and ride my exercise bike for 40 minutes every day!  I have had one fill and have 5cc in my band and I do get hungry but I am not eating.  I do not know what to do.  HOW CAN I LOSE 1 LB OVER THREE WEEKS WITH SUCH A LOW CALORIE INTAKE????   I weigh 240 and I am pretty active.  Please help.  I am freaked out over this.  Thanks.

My surgery was only 5 days before yours, and based on your information have the same calorie intake and activity level.  Also we have about the same weight loss.  My weight loss was at a stall for about the last 3 weeks as well and it just started back up again.  I dont know if your doing this or not but I discovered what my problem was.  I THOUGHT I was getting between 800-1000 calories a day, when I finally decided to start weighing my food and tracking everything I put in my mouth, I found that it was more like 1200-1500! If you are doing this it could be a normal stall, your body trying to catch up with itself, I found that even though I wasnt losing weight, I was losing inches, I found this out the hard way, when earlier in the week my pants fell down at work!  Good luck to you and I know that you will succeed.

Joan,
Thanks so much for your encouragement. I have been measuring and I log everything that goes in my mouth.  I also havent lost any real inches (minimal).   How did you get out of your stall??
Thanks for the help!
Lynne

Hi Lynne,

I really didnt do anything different, I think I just had to let my body catch up. Ive learned that this happens from the many many times Ive lost alot of weight before, I will lose about 15-20 pounds then for weeks nothing, and then it will start back up again.  You just have to learn your body, you are doing everything right so dont be discouraged and also put the scale away. I only way myself on the mornings of challenge weigh in if I do more I will probably go crazy

This is NOT trying to fob you off - but go back over old posts! This is just so normal! Weight loss is rarely steady; don't look at the weeks, look at the months. 26lbs in7 weeks is almost 4lbs a week and that is much higher than bandsters expect to lose.

Low calorie diets do not always have the effect we might expect. Eating low cal for a long period of time makes our metabolism become super-efficient. So we start to actually need less food. So although we will lose, it is often not as fast as we think it will be and any extra mouthfuls we take in are very efficiently stored by our bodies. And if you are eating under 1000, make sure you are taking supplements, general (not all, there is no single approach here!) advice is that we need about 1000-1200 a day to get a balanced diet.

Some people do lose all their weight on VLCD but with the amount of exercise you are doing (high!), you might find that you loe faster by eating more!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

IMHO, you aren't eating enough calories. Anytime I see less than 1200 calories being ingested, I'll pipe in with the same comment.

I remember feeling frustrated in the beginning as well ~ just remember that it will all average out to 1-2 lbs / week in time. And really that should be our goal.

Another thought ~ how's your water intake?
