Pre-Op Liquid Diet Suggestions?

Hi! I'm 6 days away from surgery and I'm on day 2 of a liquid diet. Not too bad so far. I've been crazy busy, so drinking my dinner in front of my computer while I am working on design projects is a bit of a distraction from the fact that I'm not getting very full...

However, I wondered if some of you all had some suggestions on something new? Everything is either sweet (artifically) or SUPER packed with sodium! I feel like I am eating unhealthy... lol

I have these things ready for me:
Protein Powder/Milk
Slim Fast
Sugar Free Jello
Sugar Free Pudding
Light Chicken Soup broth
Tomato Soup
V8 cans
Sugar Free Fruit Ice Pops
Sugar Free fudge pops

Any other suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks! :)

Hi Mary,
After surgery I got sick of SWEET protein shakes.  YUCKY...  I found Zero Carb Isopure, it comes in a 20oz glass bottle and has 40 grams of protein.  I only have tried the Grape Frost flavor.  It's not so sweet and I think it tastes good.  I bought it online from Amazon.com and when I compared the cost to GNC it was almost the same price.  So if you have a GNC, I would get it there.
Good luck to you!

Atkins shakes have been my best friends for pre and post op. Pre-op I was adding that with ice in a blender and making a smoothie, those did a good job of filling me up. The ice and the blending gave it more volume. Now post op I'm sipping on those to get some protein in.

Good luck!

Our group leader mentioned this water and how much she loves it.  I'm going to try it.  Maybe it would be a different taste for a change.  I suppose you could to the same thing with dropping some berries in the pitcher.

INFUSED WATER:
LEMON MINT CUCUMBER WATER

Hands-on time: 5 minutes
Time to table: 5 minutes (flavor deepens over time, of course)
Serves thirsty souls!
1/4 a cucumber, sliced thin
a lemon, sliced thin
sprigs of mint
2 quarts water

Add cucumber, lemon and mint in a pitcher. Fill with water. Enjoy!

In the organtic section of my grocery store I found a soup by Pacific Natural Foods that was Red Pepper with Tomato soup.  I am not normally a fan of tomato soup but this was excellent.  I even would cut it with milk to add protien and put a little chilli powder in it.  It was one of the few savory foods I could find that I liked.  The sweetness of the liquid diet was the hardest part for me as I was on it 2 weeks preop and 1 week post op.  Good luck on your surgery!

Thanks everybody!!! I went down every aisle of my local Kroger looking for suitable liquid diet items! LOL, but we do have a new Earth Fare grocery store now and I haven't looked there specifically for liquid diet items! I might be able to find some good soups and thing I hadn't thought of. The bad thing is that they cook food in there and it'll be killer to stay too long with the lovely smells wafting through the air! haha

The cucumber/lemon/min****er sounds like a GREAT idea! I am going to try that for sure!
