Need honest feedback on the lapband
Hi, I guess I'll give you my two cents as well. It's a personal choice like many others have said. It took me about 5 years to finally make a decision on which surgery, and Lap Band was the only procedure I considered due to the fact that it was something that could come out if need be, hopefully that won't happen. But it's not been a year yet, but I haven't had any problems with my band since I had it put in. But before surgery, I had made my mind up to follow the instructions from my doctor and his staff, and change my eating habits. It has really made a difference in my life and I'm so much healthier. But it is not easy, you have to decide if you're up to doing the work needed to make the lap band a success. It is a tool, and you really have to make personal choices on learning to eat less and healthier. Good luck on your decision.

Great advice from Lynn B. Check the regrets, failed WLS, and revisions boards as you make your decision.

RNY and the band are great diet aids. The RNY gives you an extra boost during the 12-18 month "golden window," but it's easy to regain after either procedure. It all depends on what you put in your mouth, but the band is, IMHO, the best diet aid ever invented. I've regained a significant amount since I reached goal, but am now slowly losing what I put on.
Thank you for all your feedback. I just know I want to find out all I can before I make my final decision. Friends that have given me advice have had gastric and the sleeve. So of course they are 100% for their surgery of choice. I have about 100 pounds to lose and know that losing that much weight too fast I'd really have to be excerising to tone up faster. I do excerise some. I also like that fact that if things don't go well, it can always come out, there won't actually be any part of me leaving me... You've all really given me so great feedback. And I do agree that I'm the only one who can decide what is right for me. I am waiting to get an approval from my insurance to go see a surgeon. I have signed up for a free seminar on the labband at the local hospital. Thanks again.
