a setback,. but not negative

Had a leak before I was ever able to hold a fill - 2005.  The O.R. prepped for "total rebanding" but the leak was found to be in the port hosing so, that was the only part that was replaced.  Removing and restitching the port to the stomach muscle is probably the worst part of banding.  You'll stay sore like the first time - I stayed sore about 3 weeks.  No big deal except for getting comfortably positioned for bed and being limited again with movement. Oh, doc used the original port incision again.  I healed nicely.  This is one complication that is no biggie if in the port hosing - which I hope is your case.

Best,
Leila

Leila, the leak is in the tubing about 6cm in from the port - showed up clearly on the XRay. So no guarantees until they get in there but hopefully just that bit to be replaced. Have agreed with doc he can do whatever is needed up to and including full replacement! Not looking forward to all that soreness but at least i assume no liquid diets etc!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Just curious - do you know how the lea****ured?  What I mean is, does the MD think it was simply a random event or did the tubing wear out, IE from age?  I am always curious to hear from ' veterans '  as I still worry about the long-term prognosis from banding.  Good luck with the surgery!

Your doctor can fill the band with contrast instead of/or in addition to saline and under xray you can see exactly where it is leaking.
