The doctor injected dye into the port and looked under XRay to see where in the tubing it came out. It was day surgery and recovery was very easy - just the one entry point and no internal sutures etc.. I am a Brut and do can't quote costs really but it was £2200 which I think is somewhere around $3500. But that was about guve years ago,

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thank you that eases my mind a little - My surgery was originally covered under my insurance and now it is not, I am hoping for the best and at the worse, a leak, was your surgery day surgery to repair the leak? and how did they find the leak?

Your may have been done far enough back when they were still anchoring them to a muscle with a stitch or 2. Could be the port moved some with the fill and so now it pulls that stitch. Otherwise I don't know what else would cause it.

Thank you so much - how did they find your leak ? and was the fix a day surgery operation?

Topic: Major ab muscle cramps at port site during exercise

I just left from an unfill so I know it isn't due to my port being flipped.

When I do a good ab exercise, my abdominal muscles around where my port is tighten up and cramp really bad. I can stretch it out but if I try to continue exercising it keeps coming back. I have to completely stop. It feels like a Charlie horse. Only happens on my port side.

I asked my doctor about it today but he didn't comment on it at all. Whatsoever. I'm really disappointed with him in that matter.

Any ideas anyone?

Go on the VSG board here and you will find lots of people who have gone from band to sleeve. And all of those who post in OH seem very happy with the result. I do know two people for whom it very definitely was not a success and who have had a hard tme, but they seem to be in the minirity.

Probably a leak.  About five years ago, I went to bed with my normal level of restriction and woke up the next morning with none.

i had a leak in the tubing midway between the band and the port. Quick operation ( in through an existing incision), chopped out the leak, reconnected the ends. I have been fine ever since.

cause not certain, but probably due to the lack of internal fat meaning there was excess tubing which rubbed against harder muscle.
