Hello everyone,

I'm not sure what is going on, all I do know is I've had heartburn for months. Saw the doc a few weeks ago and he put me on meds daily and wants to see if this helps. He said if not, he would have to do an endoscopy to see whats going on. I'm just wondering if it could be a hiatal hernia.....anyone ever have one?  Thanks..Angie

I've been getting heartburn more and more lately. I usually get it on an empty stomach. What could this be? I'm calling my doc, but just wanted some input. Thanks

Topic: RE: Fruits and Veggies
This may sound odd but things have changed for me. At one time I was able to only eat salad. No fruit, no veggies and for sure no potatoe. Now, for some odd reason Salad repulses me and I'm getting more veggies down like cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini. As for fruits, I can eat grapes, grapefruit and oranges without the inside skins. Melons, berries apples are a little harder even though I peel them.  I often hear folks say bands are fickle, I'm starting to see first hand how fickle. I would suggest just trying slowly, chew well and maybe even try drinking something warm prior to eating your veggies and fruits. Good luck and enjoy

Topic: RE: So F****ING CONFUSED! (YES IM BI**HING ABOUT THE BAND!)HELP!!
I'm sorry to hear your struggling~ Your doc, or folks at a support group should have mentioned it to you. The one thing I will say that might be dissapointing to you is..Even when you get your fill there WILL be times that you struggle. I am about 16 monts out and there are times I struggle as well. The first 10mts or so was like heaven..the weight just fell off then I discovered  how easily some "bad" foods go down without any problem at ALL! (cookies, ice cream, chips) with that said.....it remains a daily struggle to stay away from those foods, as it always has been my entire life.  What I can suggest when your hungry is to have something warm..tea, s/f hot chocolate. Try to eat filing foods, protein instead of carbs ect. Make sure you get in plenty of water, that helps too.  Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing. BTW....I'm not sure I knew about "bandster hell" prior to my surgery either and before I got filled I was like....HUUUUUHHHH, whats this all about, hang in there, it gets better

Topic: RE: What do you eat for lunch?
Hi Karen When I have left over chicken, I bring soup at hand (some sort of cream soup,...mushroom, asparagas or chicken)  I heat the soup very well and add the chicken. It keeps the chicken from drying out. I also bring salad with cold chicken or gorgonzola cheese for protein. I also like tuna salad. I think we all tend to stay with chili, or tuna/chicken/egg salads. 1) it is easy 2) it is safe while we are eating away from home. Good luck

I have been told from day one from my doctor that the band is simply a TOOL. It is not going to do all the work for you, it does take control, just like before, but now with a little help.   The best of luck to you

Topic: RE: Okay, I have a question for all your wonderful peps
For me getting down the veggies/fruits have been difficult since the beginning so I do avoid them. I can eat salad and enjoy it very much.  I know we are supposed to avoid soft food, so my question to you all is..... Are we supposed to sort of force ourselves to get down the stuff that is difficult, although good for us?  If we do, will we get used to it? I know when I do, I am fuller longer....Whats your take on this? Have a wonderful day

Well said and THANK YOU for posting this. It's as if I wrote it myself!  I have been having such a hard time. Talk about slipped back into old habits. It is very upsetting to me and I'm actually depressed. I plan to join the gym on Monday and my friend and I have committed to 3 mornings a week with one another and DH will go the other days with me.  Keep in touch and stick to your plan, I'm sure you will do great!

Topic: RE: Stomach hard, Port aching - Feel Like
Hi there,  I found the port area very sensitive for a while. I sometimes still get an uncomfortable feeling near my port. I dont think introducing a new food would bother the port area but I'm no doctor. Give your doc a call to reassure yourself.

My question is about Pb'ing. when I do, (which is not often) it is not just burping/coughing up food that is stuck. It is projectile vomitting with force which I cannot control. Is this okay?  I have asked other lap band folks and the majority of them just burp up or cough up after much discomfort. Thanks for your help...Angie
