(I hope you don't mind me plugging another forum here on this one
)Just a reminder about the "Clean Eating, Whole Foods" forum--
Whether you're at goal or just starting out, you've made a decision to change your lifestyle for the better. This includes eating a healthier diet than what you did pre-op. If you want to take that decision even further and learn how to incorporate nutritionally dense foods into your food choices, eliminate additives and preservatives from your diet, and even grow your own foods, come check out this forum.
It is open to anyone. Some are vegetarians and some eat meat, some are new to this whole concept and some have been doing this for years. Come share your experience and/or learn from others!

What I find interesting about this is that the overall OFFICIAL findings from that first Summit were very encouraging. It will be interesting to see what happens at the official summit in May!

The First International Consensus Summit for Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG), New York City, October 25-27, 2007.

Sleeve gastrectomy is a rapid and less traumatic operation, which thus far is showing good resolution of comorbidities and good weight loss if a narrower channel is constructed than for the duodenal switch. There are potential intraoperative complications, which must be recognized and treated promptly. Like other bariatric operations, there are variations in the technique used. The laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is being performed for super-obese and high-risk patients, but its indications have been increasing. A second-stage bariatric operation may be performed if necessary, with increased safety. Long-term results of LSG and further networking are anxiously awaited.

I popped over here just to see if there were any posts from you. I miss your sense of humor! I'm so sorry to hear that there is so much negative going on in your life right now. Major bummer! I pray that your mom gets better and that your cold goes away. Try and get some rest if you can.
Peace Be Yours,
Rana

Have you seen the weight loss commericals lately? In the "before" pictures they look healthy, even in a bikini. In the "after" photos, they look sickly thin. My 11 yr old dd is the one who pointed this out to me.
How sick is this country getting about weight?!?! It seems like we are going to one extreme or the other-- too heavy or WAAAAY too thin. What ever happened to balance and health???
BTW, one of the things I really like about this forum and the Lap-Band is that healthy balance. I've lurked on some of the other boards and I've seen too many folks try to get to the low end of their ideal weight or less. I for one am tired of this mentality of extremes, or "if some is good then more must be better".
Okay, I'm done with my soapbox for now.

Run with it!
I have seen at another forum where one of the members put together a FAQ web site pieced together from posts/questions that pop up regularly on their forum. There are a number of free web services out there, if someone were interesting in putting this together-- hint, hint.
I did something like this a couple of years back in regards to Hermit Crabs (hey, there's actually a whole lot to know about those little critters if you want them to survive!) Yahoo had a free service for web hosting, but I don' t know if they do that anymore. Might be worth a looksie.

I am having a rather personal problem: stress incontinence. I have an awful respiratory virus and a HORRIBLE cough (yes, I'm drinking a LOT of water, but that is adding to my problem). This is causing a very embarrassing problem with incontinence. I have to wear a maxi pad, just in case!
I know that weight is a factor, and have had my GYN Dr. document this problem in my chart, but it was very mild at the time. In the mean time, my ins. changed and she is not a "preferred Dr". I don't have a GYN right now.
My question is this: is this something that I can get better documented by my PCP? As embarrassing as this is, I am hoping that it helps my case for WLS. Is the PCP the right Dr. for this, and if not, then who?
Thanks!
